BlackEyed Susan (3 Plants Bareroot) Rudbeckia fulgida ‘Goldsturm’,Super hardy
Perennial Plant of the Year 1999!
They are bold, bright and very easy to grow! fulgida ‘Goldsturm’, one of the most beloved garden plants, has bold golden petals with a brown-black cone and daisy-like flowers. Its graceful informality of bright golden daisies will bring color to your border beds from July to frost. ‘Goldsturm’ is a much improved “Black-eyed Susan” that forms low mounds of happy daisy type flowers. This superior hardy variety is highly prized for cut flowers and a perennial border plant. The vivid contrast of brown cone and yellow petals make this a striking mass in the garden. Long bloom, low maintenance and few pest or disease problems for this winner. Mass in borders to supply nectar for butterflies and seeds for birds. This is also a popular choice for southern gardens. Loving a full sun exposure, the Rudbeckia tolerates dry winds as well. Hardy in all Northwest climates. Individually they make great cut flowers with long sturdy stems, lasting a long time in the water.
Planting Instructions: May be planted in any well-drained soil. Dig a hole large enough to encompass the roots without bending or circling. Set the plant in place so the crown (part of the plant where the root meets the stem) is about 1-2 inches below the soil surface. Cover with soil to the original soil surface and water thoroughly. Removing spent flowers promotes re-bloom. Fertilizing promotes growth and supports the flowers.
Pests or Diseases: There are few pests or diseases to worry about.
