Sweet and healthy. The fuzzless kiwi that grows on this vine is exceptionally sweet – with 20% natural sugar. And it has eight times more vitamin C than oranges! This variety thrives almost anywhere, except in extremely wet soil. It is also exceptionally productive, bearing up to 100 pounds of fruit annually. The vine grows rapidly, so it requires a sturdy support system, which should be built before or soon after planting. Heat-tolerant. Ripens in late August. Self-pollinating.

The great thing about ‘Issai’ Kiwi is that it’s fuzzless and sweeter than the fuzzy ones! Plus, they are self-fruiting; meaning that you only need one plant to produce fruit or plant with other female kiwis and harvest more fruit! These delicious fruits are sweet and juicy just like the fuzzy variety but now you don’t have to peel them. They are also smaller so you can just pop them in your mouth like big grapes! Very high in Vitamin C! Some say twenty times higher in Vitamin C than other citrus! Fruits are now being marketed and sold in produce stores.

The plants are small enough to grow in a container. This mini-Kiwi has a restrained habit, needs no pollinator, and sets the most delicious miniature fruit ever tasted. In the garden or even in containers, you will find it easy and rewarding. Less pruning required because of its early fruiting and spur-type growth.

The Hardy Kiwi is THE FRUIT OF THE FUTURE! Can bear fruit the first year after planting. It produces smooth-skinned fruit the size of large grapes in late summer to early fall, great for fresh eating, salads, dessert or jelly. Kiwi plants are attractive growers that require a sunny location, preferably with wind protection. They can be grown in different types of soils; however, the soil must be well drained. Kiwi plants are very pretty when used to cover a wall or fence or used in landscape design. The fruit’s use in recipes is endless.
