Red Dragon Chinese Cabbage

Brassica rapa
This F-1 hybrid Napa Cabbage variety produces beautiful purple-red heads, reaching an average length of 11-12 inches. Its striking color and robust flavor make it perfect for salads, stir-fries, and even traditional Korean dishes like purple kimchi. With a full, bulky, and dense texture, it is a fantastic addition to any Asian vegetable garden.

Chinese Cabbage
An Asian specialty that combines the thin crisp texture of lettuce with the fresh peppery tang of juicy cabbage. Chinese cabbage tolerates hot weather much better than regular cabbage, and can be grown successfully in multiple seasons.
Whether it's encountered in a Chinese stir-fry, pickled in Korean Kimchee or used in Japanese soups or sukiyaki, Chinese cabbage plays a principal role in Asian cuisine. Its mild delicate flavor makes it a welcome addition to a salad or sandwich, but it also makes the cabbage vulnerable to overcooking. In Asia, the vegetable is an important source of nutrition in winter. It is typically pickled in Japan and Korea and dried in China to be included in soups during the cold season.
Napa cabbage
Vegetable
Napa, or nappa cabbage, also known as sui choy, celery cabbage, is a type of Chinese cabbage originating near the Peking region of China, and is widely used in East Asian cuisine.

Using floating row covers is a great way to protect spring plantings and prevent flea beetles from causing damage. It is essential to control weeds during the growing season, as they compete with plants for water, space, and nutrients. To do this, regularly cultivate or use a mulch to prevent weed seeds from germinating. When weeding, avoid disturbing the soil around the plants. Additionally, make sure to keep plants well watered during dry periods, as they need about 1 inch of rain per week. To check if additional watering is necessary, use a rain gauge. It is recommended to water with a drip or trickle system at low pressure, or if using overhead sprinklers, water early in the day to allow foliage to dry before evening. This will help minimize the risk of disease. Remember to keep the soil moist but not overly saturated.

DIRECT SEEDING:Sow 3–4 seeds every 12–18" (thin to one plant) in rows 18-30" apart from late May to mid-July.
