Hosta, a popular perennial for shade, boasts a wide variety of options. It forms a strong mound of foliage with lily-like blossoms. This unique and unusual plant features green leaves with white edges that are rolled or folded into a frilly tube shape. In August, pale lavender flowers appear.
It also does well in mixed containers or tubs. Hosta becomes dormant in the fall and the foliage can be removed before mid spring. It's easy to divide in the spring or fall, but can be left alone for extended periods. Keep slugs in check, and while deer may eat Hosta, this particular variety has shown to be less appealing to them. Voted the 2011 Hosta of the Year by the American Hosta Growers Association.

While there are well over 3,000 cultivars to choose from we offer a range of foliage shapes, colors and sizes.

They can take years to fully mature, each year exhibiting a change in color, texture and form. Hosta Halcyon is most popular for its blueish green color as the leaves stay blue longer then the other blue Hosta varieties. Temperatures: Grow at 50F minimum to stimulate growth. If growing outside in early spring, do not allow pots to freeze.

Watering: Allow pots to dry slightly between watering, especially until growth appears.

Fertilizer: Hostas are light to moderate feeders. It is best to incorporate a slow release fertilizer in the soil prior to transplanting. If topdressing is desired, apply to the top of the soil after potting. If foliage is present, careful application must not allow fertilizer to become trapped in the leaf petioles, otherwise some leaf burning may
