Viroflay Spinach Info: Spinacia oleracea. Also known as Monstrueux, Monstrueux de Viroflay. Annual. 45 days to maturity. 2,400 seeds per oz. 12-24" height. 2-3" spacing. Produces very large, thick dark green leaves.

This particular variety of Spinach Seeds, known as Monstrueux de Viroflay, originated in 19th century France and is a heirloom annual vegetable. The plants grow to a diameter of 2 feet and are one of the earliest and most robust varieties available. The dark-green, savoyed leaves are large and crisp, boasting an extraordinary flavor that is both sweet and complex. Unlike other spinach varieties that can have a sharp, acidic taste, this variety is known for its mild and pleasant flavor. Even when the leaves grow to a larger size, they remain flavorful, tender, and succulent.

Additionally, the savoyed leaves are highly resistant to cold weather, making them an ideal choice for winter gardening.
28-50 days. Also known as simply, "Viroflay", the huge, deep green, tender leaves are a spinach lovers gourmet delight!

Give it a bit more room in your plot; the plant can get up to 24" wide, and with 10" long, tender leaves, spinach production is a snap! Extremely vigorous, and particularly good for fall plantings. Use the thinned out seedlings fresh in salads.
