Ice Plant (Dorotheanthus Bellidiformis Gelato White) - For an easy-to-care-for plant that thrives in the hot, dry soil, start Ice Plant seed. This white Ice Plant is a fast-spreading ground cover that is excellent for flower beds or spilling over the sides of containers. Also known as Livingstone Daisy, this ground cover plant is free-flowering and will bloom all summer long. White Livingstone Daisy flowers are 1 1/2 inches across, and the plants are frost tender. In areas with frosts, grow Livingstone Daisy Ice Plant as an annual.
Sow Livingstone Daisy seeds indoors 6 - 8 weeks before the last frost. Or, sow Ice Plant ground cover seed outdoors after danger of frost has passed. If planting in trays, transplant when seedlings are 2 inches tall and space them 12 inches apart. Apply a slow-release fertilizer at the time of transplanting.
