CLEMATIS, Radar Love Flower Seeds ,Yellow Perennial Vine !
Blooms in just 4 months from seed! Masses of jaunty yellow flowers and silvery seedheads!
A truly unique Clematis, Radar Love begins blooming in just 4 months from seed! The 3-inch flowers of canary-yellow arise very abundantly on 8-foot vines, surrounded by fresh, bright green foliage. And after the blooms pass, Radar Love sports attractive seedheads that are also lovely in dried arrangements!
If you're used to the large, wide-open flowers of many Clematis, adjust your expectations for the dangling, bluebell-shaped yellow beauties of Radar Love! These intensely colored blooms arise sparsely the first year, more abundantly the second, and then LIKE CRAZY for every year thereafter, especially if you prune this plant.
But the blooms aren't the only ornamental aspect of Radar Love. In late summer and early fall, fluffy silver seedheads arise. These are far prettier than the usual Clematis seedpods, and are great for cutting and using as Everlastings. You can add a whole second season of showiness to the sunny garden this way!
Radar Love is a selection of the species C. tangutica, familiarly known as Old Man's Beard or Golden Tiara. Bushy and fast-growing, it is a good choice to blanket that ugly chain-link fence or scramble across the garden floor in a woodland part of the landscape. Quite drought-tolerant once mature, it needs plenty of water and food the first season or two.
Clematis is easy to grow in a rich, porous, alkaline soil with plenty of room for the roots to spread. Best performance is when the tops are in full sunlight and the roots are shaded, so apply a generous mulch near the base of the vine. Radar Love is a Group III Clematis for pruning purposes, which means that in early spring you should cut back the vine to just above the base of last year's stems (usually about a foot from the ground). Pkt is 25 seeds.
Clematis flower seed takes about 21 - 28 days to germinate. You can sow the flower seeds in trays indoors and transplant the seedlings after frost season, or sow the flower seeds directly outside after danger of frost has passed. Before sowing Clematis seed, refrigerate the seed for 2 - 3 weeks. Some gardeners prefer to start the flower seed outdoors in the late fall or in the winter in a cold frame. The cold helps to break the dormancy.
