Nonstop blooms on a naturally small Astilbe that remains compact throughout the season while blooming almost nonstop. Tiny at only 12" high this series of Astilbes have the full range of color found in this species from white to pink to deep rose. Fantastic along the front of planting borders and containers.
Astilbe flower seed is usually sown indoors in early spring and transplanted outside when the weather is warmer. Use a loose, soft soil mix, and plant the Astilbe seeds on the surface, pressing them into the soil. Make sure that the soil drains well and is able to keep the flower seeds moist, but not wet, at all times. For the best results, add in a little fertilizer that has a high concentration of nitrogen. Keep the Astilbe plants inside until the seedlings reach about 2 inches in height. Transplant after last frost.

Plant Care
Planting:
Astilbes will be available more often than not as small container plants. At this stage they can be planted at any time from spring to late summer. If you get your hands on some bare root crowns or stems, plant them with the roots facing down in early spring.

Plant Growth:
Hot dry summers will cause damage to the plant.

Blooming:
Bloom time depends largely on variety of plant.

Soil and Irrigation:
Many Astilbes grow best in always wet, boggy soils.

Pruning:
Remove all stems and dead leaves in early spring before they produce more foliage.
