This is our favorite Pimento pepper! Fruits are very flavorful and super sweet. They are perfect pickled, canned, or stuffed and baked. Peppers average about 4" wide and 2.5 -3" tall. Plants are bushy and short, producing fruits over a long season. This year, this variety survived several light frosts in October and still produced an extra late crop for me. They produced steadily from June until November!! This variety also freezes well and makes the best Pimento Cheese!
This sweet pepper, Pimento, is an excellent variety for the home garden! Abundant yields of heart shaped fruits turn from green to red when mature and are great for pickling. This variety is suitable for growing in containers and has average water needs.
Planting Heirloom Sweet Peppers:
Sow seeds indoors before last frost. Plant seeds about 1/4” under soil surface, then transplant seedlings to garden with 12” - 18” between plants, and 24” to 36” between rows. Be sure to keep them in a warm place so that the soil temperature stays above 75°. Young heirloom pepper plants like it to stay warm and will develop well if kept at 75-85 %. You can also grow in containers.
Only transplanted after the heirloom pepper seedlings have shown several sets of their true leaves and only once, you are sure the outside soil temperature is consistently above 65°.

All seeds that we sell were homegrown on our small family farm in Pennsylvania. The seeds were hand processed using fermentation to insure healthy, viable seeds.
