This very dwarf annual grows to just 15 inches tall and produces masses of dark red flowers. Ideal for the front of the border, wildflower mixtures, and the pollinator garden.Coreopsis flowers love the summer sun and heat. They are fairly drought tolerant once they are well-established. They are not too picky about soil, but it does need to drain well. Deadheading helps to encourage continuous blooms up until the end of summer.
Directly sow Coreopsis seeds outdoors in spring into a prepared seed bed. Soil should be loosened and weed free. Press the flower seed into the soil but do not cover it. Keep the seed moist until germination. Coreopsis Mahogany Midget blooms in 10 weeks when sown from flower seeds.

This Coreopsis plant is simply gorgeous, and it is trouble-free. The perfect size for beds and borders as well as containers. This variety may be referred to as Dwarf Red Plains Coreopsis.
Plains Coreopsis is found as a native in many US states. Plains Coreopsis should be started outdoors, but can be planted indoors and transplanted if it is done when it is still very small. This dwarf variety can grow anywhere between 10 and 12 inches tall. The slim seeds will germinate in either fall or early spring. Plains Coreopsis grows rapidly when planted in well-drained soils. A fall planting is possible when a mild winter follows. Any area that weathers strong winters must spring plant. This flower won’t tolerate heat and humidity and needs only average watering. Deadheading this flower will help to promote more full blooms. Plains Coreopsis can grow in many different variants of soil quality and content
How to Plant COREOPSIS Seeds
Sow Coreopsis seeds in cell packs or flats, press into soil but do not cover. Needs light to germinate. Kept at 65° F., germination is in 21-30 days. Transplant into the garden 1-1.5 feet apart.
Comments: Full Sun. 'Sterntaler,' 'Sunfire,' and 'Sunburst Coreopsis are heat and humidity tolerant; thrive with moderate to little water. 'American Dream' likes mild summer temperatures, afternoon shade in warm climates and moist, even wet soil. Coreopsis plants are first year flowering perennials. Low maintenance, shear plants back occasionally to promote continuous flowering. Coreopsis are rabbit and deer resistant plants. Coreopsis flowers attract bees, birds and butterflies.
